At The Rudheath Senior Academy, we believe that a strong foundation in core knowledge is key to fostering higher-order thinking skills in the classroom. One of the primary tools we use to ensure students build this foundation is the Powerful Knowledge Booklets. These booklets have been designed by our subject experts to provide students with essential information and concepts that underpin each subject area, ensuring they have the knowledge needed to tackle more complex, abstract ideas and tasks.
Powerful knowledge briefings take place in form time and support our students’ memory retention of core knowledge, ensuring that the most important aspects of the curriculum are being returned to regularly and therefore remembered for the long term. Powerful knowledge briefings support our students in developing retrieval practice skills, which support their independent home learning too.
