Rudheath Senior Academy Awarded Prestigious Gold Award in School Games Mark

Rudheath Senior Academy is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Gold Award in the School Games Mark, a government-led awards scheme that recognises schools for their commitment to competitive sports and physical education.

This esteemed recognition celebrates the school’s dedication to promoting physical activity and developing competition across the school and the wider community.

The School Games Mark is a is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their ongoing efforts to enhance PE and school sport.

Christine Williams, headteacher at the school expressed delight at the achievement, saying: “We are thrilled to receive the Gold Award in the School Games Mark and are incredibly proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

“We’re excited to continue improving and expanding our sports offerings to ensure every student has the chance to participate and thrive.”

The school whose mantra is ‘More Students, More Active, More Often’ competed in many sports across the year including football, basketball, dance, netball, badminton, hockey, dodgeball and orienteering.

Steve Docking, CEO of North West Academies Trust which oversees the running of the academy, said: “We are extremely proud of the Rudheath Academy team for earning this prestigious award.

“The Gold Award affirms our belief that sports and physical activity are vital to the growth and development of young people.”

Participation in the School Games Mark process allows schools to assess their physical education provision and helps them build an action plan for continuous improvement.

Rudheath Senior Academy has embraced this process, and with the recent transformation of the former Rudheath Leisure Centre, which is now part of the Rudheath Senior Academy estate ensuring children now have excellent spaces to do their PE lessons as well as after school activities.
