Work Readiness

Being ‘work ready’ is an aspect of education that is aimed at preparing young people for the modern world. Part of being prepared for the modern world is being prepared for the modern workplace. This means every young person should have the opportunity to experience a broad, balanced and rigorous curriculum that equips them with a wealth of knowledge, the ability to apply this knowledge and the chance to develop the character needed to seize the opportunities our society offers.

The future success and prosperity of the UK will increasingly depend on our ability to harness home-grown talent and to encourage the creativity and innovation of our young people. That will mean making sure that pupils from all backgrounds have access to an education that prepares them well for the next stage of their lives, be that higher education, entering employment or setting up their own business.

According to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), most employers ranked aptitude and readiness for work as the most important factor they consider when recruiting school and college leavers. Additionally, 60% employers also said they rate broader skills such as resilience, communication, and problem-solving among their top 3 priorities when recruiting.

At Rudheath Senior Academy we want to do everything we can to support our students’ learning and personal growth. It is for this reason that we have launched LORIC with all students across all year groups. LORIC is designed to help students to develop the skills desired by employers and that are necessary for future success.

PiXL Edge helps students to develop the LORIC attributes:

• Leadership
• Organisation
• Resilience
• Initiative
• Communication
