Head Teacher Update

As well as my role as Head Teacher at Rudheath, I have also been the leader of UTC Warrington; a role I have been in since 2015. Over the last few weeks, I have seen UTC students engage with employers and take part in virtual work experience. Here at Rudheath, our realigned vision is around work readiness and developing the skills young people need for future success.

There was positive feedback from the NCS team following last week’s assembly with Year 11. They expressed that all students were polite and the welcome received was friendly. I am delighted to hear that so many of our Year 11 have expressed interest in completing this award; a programme that builds on teamwork, new experiences and helping others in the community. As Year 11 prepare for their final few weeks with us, we are planning a day dedicated to careers and next steps, as well as a fun end to celebrate their time with us.

Students will now start receiving tokens to celebrate their personal attributes. These are called LORIC tokens, recognising acts of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication. We have a newly constructed reward board in the Assembly Hall; each student will have a test tube that can be filled with their tokens. Throughout the term, we will celebrate the success of our pupils who have demonstrated those key personal skills.

I am also delighted to see a number of trips and visits being organised for the next academic year. We continue to follow guidance from the UK Government regarding travel restrictions, however, we are hopeful that these trips will allow for the cultural experiences that our children have missed in recent months.

I wish all students, parents/carers, and staff a restful bank holiday weekend.

Berlin Trip

A History trip for existing Year 8 – 10 students has been organised to Berlin. The visit is due to take place between Friday 18th – Sunday 20th February 2022. The cost of the trip is £400 which includes flights, transfers, 3 day Berlin travel card,  guides, museum entry costs, meals and insurance. Further information has been sent via email letter.

This will be a guided tour where we will visit many places of historical interest with a focus on the Weimar and Nazi Germany This visit will enhance the historical knowledge and understanding of students and will complement the GCSE and Year 9 History syllabus. If you have any questions, please speak to Mr Lambert.

Year 7 Maths

Year 7s in maths this week have been working on measuring and drawing angles. To test their skills, the students have made some pirate treasure maps and used protractors to follow a set of directions to find the treasure.

Poetry Rap

Well done to Year 7 Jack Maddock who has won third prize in an international competition, run by ‘Never Such Innocence’.

Jack wrote a rap about conflict, following studying WW1 Poetry in English. He performed it (recorded on Miss Pierce’s iPad) and we are so proud of him. This is a brilliant achievement and we are delighted that his talents have been recognised.
