North West Academies Trust (NWAT) have appointed Mr James Kerfoot to the role of Head Teacher at Rudheath Senior Academy, effective 1st September 2022.
Mr Kerfoot, currently Head Teacher at Accrington Academy, has worked in education for more than 25 years and has successfully led two secondary schools over the last ten years; he was appointed after a competitive selection process following an external advert.
Speaking of his appointment, Mr Kerfoot said he is looking forward to working with both students and staff at Rudheath.
“I am extremely proud to introduce myself as the new Head Teacher of Rudheath Senior Academy, from September 2022.
I have been a Head Teacher in two schools with nearly 10 years experience in the role. I have always asked the staff I work with to treat the children in our care as if they were our own. I will certainly continue to do this at Rudheath.
There are three key aspects to my role which are; to keep your children safe, to ensure they enjoy the experiences provided for them and to secure excellent outcomes so they can go off to great destinations once they leave school.
The Rudheath values of ‘excellence and kindness’ will be the foundations on which we build, to create an all-round education to help our students and staff to become better people. I expect our staff and students to work hard and am unapologetic about that as I believe there are no shortcuts to success.
Our aim will be to deliver an outstanding education with excellent exam results, enriched by superb extra-curricular opportunities, to improve the lives of the young people in our care and achieve the North West Academies Trust vision of ‘opening children’s eyes to the wonderful world of possibility’. I am passionate about providing an ‘education with character’, in other words, an education which challenges, inspires and excites our students and prepares them for life in the 21st century.
I am excited and proud to be joining the Rudheath team. It is a warm and caring school with staff who are determined to go the extra mile for your children.
I look forward to meeting you all in September.”
Mr Kerfoot will take over from Miss Julie-Ann Wilson, Deputy Head Teacher, who is Acting Head Teacher for the Summer term following the departure of Mr Lee Barber before Easter.
