Rudheath Senior Academy Headteacher’s Newsletter

Friday 29 November 2019

As always, there has been a lot happening at school this week as December approaches.

The Chilli Man and Chilli Jane

Miss Cooper invited Chilli Man and Chilli Jane into school this week to tell our learners all about chillies – how to grow them, cook them and eat them. I’m looking forward to tasting some of the dishes they make with their new knowledge. I love spicy food!

Vale Royal Badminton Competition

Mr Russell and his badminton squad were busy again this week at the Vale Royal Badminton Competition. Well done to all involved – it always gives me great pride to see our learners representing the school and giving their all #resilience #ambition

Flash Mob

Our year 11 dancers and Mrs Bryan arranged a festive flash mob this week. It’s so joyful to see everyone enjoying their day together. It’s beginning to feel festive at Rudheath Senior with the tree going up this week too!

Lille Christmas Market Trip

Thank you to all the parents who came to the meeting about the Lille Christmas Market Trip. If you haven’t already done so please make sure that all necessary documents are with Mrs Rooney on Monday including EHIC cards.

Knife Angel Visit

Queensberry AP took some of our learners to Chester to see the “Knife Angel” at Chester Cathedral. A very big “Thank you” to Canon Jane Brooke and everybody at Chester Cathedral for making us feel so welcome.

GCSE Mock and End of Term Exams

The GCSE mock and end of term exams started this week and will continue into the next week. It is really important that you encourage your children to revise for these exams, it gets them in to good habits and embeds their learning over time.

GCSE Certificate Evening

The absolute highlight of the week for me was our GCSE Certificate Evening when last year’s year 11 returned to pick up their hard earned GCSE certificates from the summer GCSE exams.

People often ask me why I work with teenagers and it’s these occasions that are the very best reminder of why this really is the best job ever! It’s only been 3 months since we saw the class of 2019 on results day and not even a term into their new adventures they have grown in every way. I could not have been more proud to see them all thriving at college, apprenticeships and work #proudtobeRudheathSenior

Have a lovely weekend all.
