Rudheath Senior Academy Headteacher’s Newsletter

Friday 4 October 2019

It’s been a short week with our INSET day on Monday but we’ve still managed to pack lots in!

INSET

On Monday we welcomed Jason Bangbala of JEB Education to Rudheath Senior. Along with colleagues from our NWAT schools, we learnt about practical strategies to support young people to succeed in and around school. A brilliant opportunity to strengthen practice across the academy and the Trust #scholarship

Year 8 Visit to Barclays

The whole of year 8 has now been to Barclays to learn about life skill and personal finance. We are really keen to build strong community links with local business so that our learners have a greater understanding of what it takes to be successful in the world of work. Thank you to all at Barclays for giving us a great experience #ambition

Year 6 Application Deadline and Open Mornings

The deadline for year 6 applications to secondary schools is the 31st October. All year 6 children must apply for a place whether they live in the catchment area or have siblings in the school. The link for applications is https://cwc.cloud.servelec-synergy.com/parentportal/

If you have a child in year 6 or know of someone with a child in year 6 who would like to have a look around our school before putting in their application, please call the school for a tour.

Queensbury AP

As part of our continuing drive to support all our learners to succeed, a group of our year 9 started work with Queensbury AP this week. The main focus of this course is on boxing and the development of skills required in the sport that can be transferred to everyday life. We look forward to seeing how they get on #resilience

School Games Mark

Mr Russell and the PE team have been busy pushing for more opportunities in sport for all our learners, achieving the Bronze School Games Mark. Read more about it in this week’s guardian

Rapid Graspers

Children from Lostock Gralam, Rudheath, Wincham, Witton Church Walk and Victoria Road Primary Schools joined us here at Rudheath Senior for maths enrichment. We love to have our primary friends here with us and it’s such a privilege to play a part in our local community.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
