Rudheath Senior Academy Headteacher’s Newsletter
Friday 7 June 2019
So we embark on the final half term of this academic year and it’s already busy, busy, busy!
Year 11 Holiday Revision Workshops and Exams
Year 11 have been busy during the holidays, revising independently and coming in for workshops with Miss Cooper in Food and Nutrition, Mr and Mrs Schwab in Geography and Mr Lambert in History. Thank you to parents for getting our learners there and to our fabulous team of teachers who have gone the extra mile and to Mr and Mrs Schwab of the Geographical Association for coming in and going through the key points for papers 2 and 3.
We are now three quarters of the way through the GCSE exams. I can’t tell you how proud I am of year 11 who have plodded on valiantly through some really tough papers. One more week and exams will be over! RESILIENCE – SCHOLARSHIP – AMBITION.
Please check your child’s timetable for more details for this weekend’s workshop for science revision.
Music Trip to Manchester Metropolitan University
Miss Pim took 13 year 7 learners to Manchester Metropolitan University music department on Wednesday. They had a brilliant time and it was just delightful to see how engaged they were in all the workshops, composition and performance.
Miss Pim is working really hard to develop our music department here at Rudheath Senior and it really is quite impressive to see how far the children have come on in their performance skills. I’m looking forward to seeing many more performances in the coming year.
Year 7 competed at an athletics competition at Leftwich High School yesterday. The competitors gave their all and there were lots of flying feet as they ran / jumped their hearts out.
Mollie Sidebotham and Alex Finlay qualified for the Mid Cheshire Athletics Team for long jump and high jump respectively. A big thank you to Mr Russell, Mr Chambers and Ms Bryant for taking them and I’ll keep you posted on their next meet.
Year 6 to Year 7 Visit
A few year 6 came to Rudheath Senior yesterday for a scout round the school before the main transition days. It was great to see them here and I am really looking forward to welcoming year 6 parents and learners to our academy in the next few weeks.
Mary Poppins Junior
This Saturday friends from Barclays and colleagues are building the set for our show. I will update with you with photos over the course of the weekend. Don’t forget the show is taking place 26, 27 and 28 June. Tickets are on sale on Eezeetrip. If you still haven’t got a logon or are struggling to set it up please contact Mrs Lockett in the main office for support.
I wish you a joyful weekend and hope the weather cheers up soon – especially as I’m off to guide camp with my daughter this weekend!.
